2023 Virtual Fall NORDIC Central/Western Regional TD Seminar and the annual FIS/USS&S rules updates
November 1, 2023 @ 5:00 pm - November 7, 2023 @ 7:00 pm
⇒Who These Meetings are For: “This would be for your primary NORDIC race organizers, who generally form a committee that is the ‘organizing committee.’ This would be your chief of competition or race director, as well as your most critical leads with the most essential tasks for the event, your race secretary or chief of information, your chief of timing, your head timer, your chief of stadium, your chief of course. If you’ve got a core group of volunteers who are making your races happen, it would be great to invite them to attend. No two races are the same, but we can always improve!”
Attendance at an educational TD seminar is required every 2 years to maintain status as a level 1 & 2 TD, but the Regional content will be valuable for all TD’s as well as Competition Committee members, Coaches, and other cross country officials. These fall seminars are also a great opportunity to introduce TD details to new/potential TDs In Training as well. Level 3-FIS TDs are encouraged to attend and support Regional seminars and must also attend FIS seminars that are presented in the Americas every 2 years. FIS fall seminars for the Americas are currently on an even year progression.
This year’s joint Central/West Regional seminar will be presented by the Central Region. It will follow a similar format to previous Western seminars and last year’s joint virtual seminar. A variety of topics will be presented that are pertinent to all levels of XC competition including details for the upcoming season. The dates will be:
Wednesday November 1,
Thursday November 2,
Tuesday November 7,
Each session will last approximately 2 hours. Times have been laid out to accommodate everyone as best as possible with the span of time zones from Eastern to Pacific.
Eastern: 8:00pm-10:00pm
Central: 7:00pm-9:00pm
Mountain: 6:00pm-8:00pm
Pacific: 5:00pm-7:00pm
Each evening will cover 2-3 pertinent topics, with times allowed for discussion and question/answer periods. Topics for each night will be announced when they are all finalized.
In addition to the Regional agenda, there will be a virtual FIS Rules update presented on Saturday October 28 by Allan Serrano, time TBD. Allan will follow by covering the USS&S rules updates and touch on some FIS updates in one of our Regional seminar blocks.
